βI recently passed the DP 700 (Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate) certification.
What I get out of certs is the breadth when starting out with a new technology. They drag you through corners of the tooling you'd never wander into on your own, so when it's time to get your hands dirty you're already off and running.
That matters in two very different conversations right now.
One is with organisations who have never really looked at their data before. Lots of spreadsheets (aka nightmare fuel), a report someone built years ago that nobody dares change, and a vague sense that there's something valuable in there. They don't need a five year platform strategy. They need to see something useful quickly, without signing up for a decade of maintenance.
The other is with organisations that know exactly what their data is worth and are stuck. SSIS packages nobody wants to open. An on-prem warehouse that works fine right up until it doesn't. Migrating off that has less to do with the shiny new thing and more to do with not breaking the stuff that currently pays the bills.
Fabric turns out to be pretty useful in both cases. It gives you enough in one place to get an analytical use case in front of people fast, and enough to take on a proper migration off legacy kit without duct-taping five services together. Every tool has its trade-offs, but having another solid option to reach for is a good thing when the goal is helping organisations make better decisions with their data.
If you're going for DP-700 yourself, two things worth your time:
Aleksi Partanen's DP-700 course on YouTube is free and walks the whole syllabus.
CertiAce which which provides exam like practice questions, instead of the scraped nonsense floating around elsewhere.β

βCertiAce has been a really useful tool for my exam preparation for DP-600 and DP-700 certifications. I have recommended it to several professionals!β

βπ Excited to share that I'm now a Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)! π
This comes right after earning my Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) certification β the next step in building out my Microsoft Fabric skill set.
DP-600 sharpened my skills across the full analytics lifecycle in Fabric: data ingestion, transformation, semantic modeling, and building scalable analytics solutions with Lakehouses and Warehouses.
Along the way, I also attended Microsoft Fabric Analyst in a Day by Quadrant Technologies and Chat with Your Data in a Day by Pragmatic Works β both were great for reinforcing concepts hands-on alongside the exam prep. Thanks to Sheik Mohamed and Angelica Choo QuanAngelica Choo Quan for their excellent sessions.
A huge thanks also to Will Needham for his excellent YouTube content, Aleksi Partanen for his valuable learning resources, and CertiAce for solid practice questions that helped me prepare.
The learning journey continues β onward to the next challenge! π

βJust passed DP-700 certification (Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate)
A quick snapshot of my learnings:
- Lakehouses aren't just unstructured data dump with conversion to Delta tables for data consumption. Knowing its place in medallion architecture allows more flexibility in transformation saving time and pain on downstreams.
- Real-Time Intelligence (Eventstream + Eventhouse + KQL) was something new for me. Coming from BI background, data streaming is an unknown territory. But it turns out to be more approachable with KQL due to its similarity with SQL.
- I've known CI/CD from previously used Git but never on Fabric. This certification showed me how Git is being used for version control in Fabric Environment. Furthermore, I've learnt deployment pipelines in which uses workspaces as different stage in development. From dev -> test -> prod
This one built nicely on DP-600, which I passed at the beginning of the month. Together they give a pretty solid end-to-end view of Fabric β from semantic modeling all the way through to actual data engineering.
Many thanks to Aleksi Partanen 's 11 hours video and CertiAce for exam-like questions.
